Reaching the Children in Our Neighborhood
This summer, our Highland Hills family has stepped up in a beautiful way to minister to the children in our neighborhood. Through the Bibb County Schools lunch program, we have opened our doors and fed healthy lunches to children who might not have enough to eat on summer days when they are not in school.
Each day during the last two weeks, 10 – 12 church members have gathered in the youth room to invite the children in. With smiles on their faces, they eagerly waited to meet our new friends. While some days the children have been few, other days have brought as many as 20 children and their parents into our church. We served the boxed lunches and cold milk, talked with the children as they ate, and played foosball and ping pong when lunch was done. Each day, laughter filled the youth room and warmed our hearts as we go to know our neighbors in a new way.
The final week of the Summer Lunch Ministry will be July 7 – 11. We will serve the lunches each day from 11:45 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. If you would like to be a part of this ministry by serving lunches, please contact Erin Hall or Renee Bryan. You can email Erin by clicking here.
