God’s greatest gift to us is the gift of Jesus Christ.
Jesus was given to bear witness to God’s love and grace. Jesus was given to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Jesus was a gift from heaven.

This year our Advent devotion guides for both adults and children are titled, From Heaven Above, and it is a theme that will resonate throughout our hearts and minds during this season of giving. Our Preschool and Children’s Ministries, along with the Missions Committee, want to involve our families in a tangible exercise of giving to others during this season.

For those who are hungry, the gift of food can indeed feel like a “gift from heaven above.” Highland Hills Baptist Church families with preschoolers and children are encouraged to make this happen for local families in need by picking up an Advent Box from the church, beginning on November 13. You can take the box home, decorate it, and then during each day of Advent (November 27 – December 24), place a non-perishable food item in the box. Items such as canned goods, beans, rice, and peanut butter are good items for this project.

Once your boxes are full, you can bring them to the church. We will receive boxes on these special days of giving and worship: Christmas Day, December 25, New Year’s Day, January 1, and Epiphany Sunday, January 8.
