Wednesday, January 11

January is the month when our Children’s Ministry traditionally sets aside time to talk with our children about faith, baptism, and discipleship. This year we will seek to accomplish that in a different way. We are setting aside Wednesday, January 11, as an evening for Making Disciples. Our first through sixth graders will begin the evening at 5:00 p.m., with an introduction to their spring musical In the Big Inning. It is a musical about faith and the heroes of our faith, and will be a great springboard into our discussion about discipleship.

At 5:30 p.m., our children will be divided into two groups. One group will be for children who have not made a profession of faith. They will be guided through a time of questions and answers with one of our ministers about the steps of becoming a Christian, baptism, and church membership. Children who have already made a profession of faith will meet with another minister to talk about the role of a disciple in following the ways of Christ.

The children will come back together and sit as a group for supper from 6:00-6:30 p.m. in the Great Room. At 6:30 p.m., they will be dismissed to their mission classes, and the evening will conclude at our normal dismissal time of 7:00 p.m.

Make plans for your child to be a part of this opportunity to learn about the steps of faith.
