Devotional Guides and Bible Study Gathering For many of us, preparing for Christmas means being pulled into a cycle of overindulgence, from overeating to overspending. Our homes are filled with lights, tinsel and wrapping paper, but what fills our hearts during this season? This Advent lets train our eyes and our hearts to look beyond the trappings of Christmas to see the wonder of God’s abundant life and grace that came to dwell among us.

Each year we like to provide an Advent devotion book to our congregation. During the coming season of Advent, we will use Walter Brueggemann’s daily devotional book, Celebrating Abundance as our devotional guide. These books are a little different from the booklets we have offered in the past. The books will cost $5 and can be purchased in the church office, and they will be made available for purchase on Wednesday nights in the Great Room.

On Sunday mornings during Advent, there will be a gathering in the Great Room at 9:45 a.m. for those who would like to delve deeper into this book. Jake Hall will lead these sessions for the four Sundays of Advent. All are welcome to join in this time of study and time to reflect upon the abundant life that God offers to us.
