New Orff Instruments Coming to Children’s Choirs

New Orff Instruments Coming to Children’s Choirs

orff.jpg

There is something new and exciting coming to our Children’s Choir this fall. Through the generosity of a donor, we have been able to purchase a set of Orff Instruments. These new instruments include a variety of percussion/rhythm instruments, soprano glockenspiel, alto glockenspiel, alto xylophone, soprano metallophone, timpani drum, hand drum, and
tambourine. The Orff approach to teaching music is very child-centered. It allows children to feel comfortable learning new music skills, offers greater exploration of music, and employs fun and play into the curriculum. With these instruments, our children are going to have some new ways of learning and exploring music.

As is our usual Highland Hills practice, we want to offer quality programming that helps children grow in their faith, that teaches them to express themselves through music and praise, and molds children into faithful disciples. Our Preschool and Children’s music program is open to children from 4K through 6th grade. If you know a child who would enjoy being a part of our choral and instrumental program, please feel free to invite them to join us. Choirs meet at 5:00 p.m. each Wednesday and will begin on Wednesday, September 6.
