What is your schedule like? If you are like most people, it is packed. Your day planner may have grown from a helpful tool to a horrible boss. This season of Lent invites you to do more than examine your benign vices and half-hearted disciplines. If you are feeling stressed and unable to enjoy life abundant, then the Lenten season invites you to stop.... just stop. Fasting from busyness might be just the thing to bring you closer to God and your family.

You may remember that I like to make a soundtrack for each season of worship. A friend and fellow pastor introduced me to my favorite song this year: "Slow Me Down," by the Robbie Seay Band. I invite you to listen to it here, or read its words in prayer.

Slow me down, O Lord
slow me down
Help my heart to hear Your sound
Speak into my life
Lord, speak now
Slow me down, O Lord
slow me down

Clear my mind, O Lord
clear my mind
Bring me peace that I cannot find
Take my worried thoughts
break my pride
Clear my mind, O Lord
clear my mind

Wake my soul, O Lord
wake my soul
With this mess I’ve made
make me whole
Of this life called mine, take control
Wake my soul, O Lord
wake my soul
