Children have a place in worship. Through worship participation, children are learning. They are learning how to pray. They are learning to sing the hymns of faith. They are learning the stories of God and of God’s people. Our sanctuary is a welcoming place for children, and we want them to feel a part of the worship experience. To that end, we also need to accept that children participate in worship in ways that are different from adults. Sometimes children need to keep their fingers busy in order to absorb what is happening around them, or they need to have a visual to help them understand a concept.

Highland Hills is now offering a worship bag for our youngest worshipers. Each child will have their own re-useable Highland Hills tote bag filled with a weekly worship guide designed just for them plus crayons, pencils, a sketch pad, and a coloring prayer card.

Children may choose to take their bags home and bring them to church each week, or they may leave the bags at church to pick up each time they come to worship. The bags will be available on Sundays in the Narthex and the main hallway of the church.

It is our hope that these bags will be a meaningful way for parents to guide their children in worship, and help our children know that their presence is wanted and welcomed among us.
