Tailgate Kickoff Party

Wednesday, August 28

Join us for a Tailgate Kickoff Party to celebrate a new year of Music and Missions. Get in the spirit by wearing your favorite team colors, shirt, or hat. Bring your competitive spirit and join in the games and fun activities as we mark the beginning of our Wednesday night programming for the year.

Our church family will gather in the Great Room on Wednesday, August 28, at 6:00 p.m. for some yummy tailgate food. We will introduce you to the teachers who will be leading our children and youth in choirs and mission classes and ask for God’s blessings on them as they give of themselves in sharing God’s love.

Promotion Sunday and Blessing of Students

Promotion Sunday and Blessing of Students

Sunday, August 18

They are going back! Throughout Central Georgia students are heading back to the classroom, and we want to honor and bless our students as they mark this new beginning.

Sunday, August 18, is Promotion Sunday for our church. On this day, our students will begin the morning in their current Sunday School classes, and then at 10:30 a.m. we will promote those who are going into new classes and departments.

A highlight of this day will take place in worship when we present our first graders and seventh graders with a new Bible. Children and Youth in this age group are taking giant steps into new ministry areas of our church. We like to mark this occasion with the gift of a new Bible from our congregation.

Our worship on this Sunday will also include a Blessing of Students. Preschoolers, children, and youth are encouraged to bring their backpacks to worship for a time of individual blessing and to receive a gift to carry with them throughout the school year.

Sunday, May 5

Highland Hills has a wonderful tradition of featuring all age groups and genders leading in worship throughout the year. On Sunday, May 5th, the youth of Highland Hills will be leading us in worship. They will sing, pray, read scripture, play instruments, and speak. During the service, the graduating high school seniors will be recognized and presented with a gift. They will also be sharing with us a little about their future plans as they embark on this new chapter in their lives.

Our graduating class of 2019 includes Trent Brown, Howard High School. Ben Browne, Jones County High School. Trey Bumgardner, Bobby McCord, and Drake Miscall, Stratford Academy. Ke’ousha Carswell, Central High School. Eliot Gammons, First Presbyterian Day School. Christian Sims, Mt. De Sales Academy.

Following the service, all of the Highland Hills youth and their families will have a Cinco De Mayo luncheon in the Great Room celebrating our graduates. Youth need to contact Cass or Elizabeth if they plan on attending the luncheon. Please make plans to be in worship on Youth Sunday morning, May 5th to support all of our youth, as they lead in worship, conclude another school year and prepare for a busy summer ahead.

Youth Sunday at Highland Hills is May 5!

The youth of Highland Hill will be leading in worship on Sunday, May 5. They will be doing everything from the Invocation to taking up the offering to preaching and singing in the choir. During the service, we will also be recognizing the High School graduates and presenting them with a gift.

Following the service, the Youth are having a Cinco de Mayo lunch in the Great Room for all of the Youth and their families as we celebrate our graduates.

Youth need to let Cass or Elizabeth know if they are coming for lunch by Wednesday, May 1 so Laura Ann can be prepared. Make plans to be in worship on May 5 as the Youth lead us.

Pancakes with the Pastors

Pancakes with the Pastors

Shrove Tuesday, the last day before the season of Lent, is a day for pancakes. Historically, families needed to use up their stored supplies of flour, butter, eggs, and milk because those supplies wouldn’t be used during the fasting of Lent. Instead of letting them go to waste, the solution was to make pancakes!

Preschoolers, children, youth, and their parents are invited to enjoy Pancakes with the Pastors on Tuesday, March 5, at the home of Cass and Ruth DuCharme, 1640 Rivoli Lane in Macon. Drop in between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. for some pancakes and bacon with your friends. The staff will also share a devotional guide for each family to take home to use during the season of Lent.

Full Court Press Family Retreat

Full Court Press Family Retreat

Saturday, February 23, 11am

Playing basketball requires stamina, commitment, and practice. It is a team sport where teammates work together and coaches guide players to victory. Maybe there are some lessons that we can learn from basketball that also apply to the practice of faith.

Families of preschoolers, children, and youth are invited to join us on center court – that is Highland Hills – for a day retreat focused on faith and family. We will look at how we can pass on faith to our children and make sure their head is in the game. We will “enter his courts with praise” as we spend time worshipping together. Finally, we will truly experience the game of basketball as we end the afternoon cheering on the Mercer Bears from the private box at Hawkins Arena.

Full Court Press Family Retreat will take place on Saturday, February 23 beginning at 11:00 a.m. This retreat is for preschoolers, children, youth, and parents. During the retreat, there will be times for the different age groups to engage in separate spiritual formation and times when we will come together for an intergenerational experience.

The retreat will begin at Highland Hills at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be provided, and there will be childcare for preschoolers. The retreat will end at 3:00 p.m. when we will make our way to Mercer for the 4:00 p.m. basketball game. There is no cost for the retreat, but sign-up is required. Call the church office or sign-up below to make your reservations by Wednesday, February 20.
