Report on Town Hall Input Session

“Rome was not built in a day” and neither will HHBC be rebuilt in a day. Rebuilding involves the work of many hands. It will involve leadership, workers, and planners for us to become the church God envisions. Members were given the opportunity to engage in the planning stage at a Town Hall meeting held on Wednesday, April 27.

The purpose of the meeting was to provide feedback for the Pastor Search Committee as they proceed with the search process. There was a good turnout of participants who engaged in roundtable discussions, asking Why did you join HHBC?; Why have you stayed at HHBC?; What do you not want changed?; What should be added that we are not currently doing?; What are we doing that needs improvement?; and What is something we are currently doing that should be dropped?. There was also a discussion on what the congregation wants in a pastor and how to revamp Vision 20/20 to make it more relevant to HHBC today.

The congregation is also asked to fill out and return questionnaires to help the Search Committee. Some of the questions relate to the demographics of HHBC, to be included in the Church Profile and presented to prospective pastors. Others concern each member’s perception of the current church as well as their vision for the future of HHBC. Members are also asked to rate how well HHBC deals with organizational issues - such as decision making, communication, and developing resources - and the performance of our ministries.

We need every member’s input to find the right pastor for HHBC. Surveys will be distributed at worship services, emailed to the membership, or may be downloaded from the Members area of the website. The deadline for returning them is May 15.
