A Season of Rebuilding: Lessons from the Book of Act - Part 7

By Kam Cook

Stephen Ministry Coordinator

The Book of Acts is an account of the beginning and spread of the Christian Church, the result of the work of the risen Lord and the Holy Spirit through the Apostles. Acts provides a reference for understanding of the principles that ought to govern the church at any age. This week concludes the 7 Lessons found in the Book of Acts. Over the past six weeks, we have considered 6 Lessons to be found in The Book of Acts that are applicable to the current situation at HHBC.

Lesson #1 – God’s Plan for Us
Lesson #2 – Trust in God

Lesson #3 - Living the Teachings of Jesus.
Lesson #4 – Forgiveness
Lesson #5 – Living in Community
Lesson #6 – A Renewal and New Sense of Purpose at HHBC

7th Lesson – The Power of Prayer

In Acts, when the Apostles and the people of Jerusalem first experienced the Holy Spirit, they spent much time together…. in prayer, in sharing, in engaging, in breaking bread, in bonding, in understanding, acceptance, and commitment.

There are many opportunities at HHBC to create a similar experience for its members …. gathering together to pray, to share a meal (when it is safe), to sing, to talk, to sit in silence and pray together …. for guidance …. for the next steps… to reach a common mind as to who should lead this Body of Believers. We also pray that our church family will receive the wind of the Holy Spirit and join together in participating in the next chapter for the HHBC Body of Believers.

Meaning of this Lesson– The heart and soul of everything for us as Christians is prayer. Our God speaks often, if we just listen. “Be still and know…” We are most receptive when we are in prayer, especially together. Join us for Worship and Bible Study on Sunday mornings and Prayer Meeting on Wednesday nights at 6:30 as we pray for how this Body of Believers will move forward …again, in unity.
