Updates from Baptists in Ukraine

The news of war in Ukraine has shaken us and called us to pray for all of those in harm's way. CBF Executive Coordinator Paul Baxley urged prayer for the people of Ukraine on Thursday following news of Russia’s invasion and also affirmed “solidarity with our Baptist sisters and brothers."

"We have an especially close connection to the people of Ukraine because of the faithful ministry of Gennady and Mina Podgaisky,” Baxley said. Twenty years ago, CBF commissioned Gennady and Mina to serve in Kyiv, and a year later they helped establish Village of Hope, a home for foster children, in partnership with CBF congregations, friends and partners in Ukraine. Dianne and Shane McNary, CBF field personnel with close connections to HHBC, serve in Slovakia, which borders Ukraine. Click here to read about ways that the McNarys are welcoming Ukrainian refugees as they cross the border.
