Vote on Interim Pastor Search Recommendation Sunday, December 12

A Church Conference to vote on Interim Pastor appointment will be held Sunday, December 12, following worship.

If you were unable to attend and hear Dr. DeLoach in person on December 8 , you can watch the service online.

The Interim Pastor Search Committee is excited to recommend Dr. Gregory DeLoach, Dean of Mercer’s McAfee School of Theology, to the congregation as our Interim Pastor beginning in late January. Dr. DeLoach is a sought-after preacher and is well regarded by churches throughout Georgia. He previously served as Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church, Augusta, and First Baptist Church, Marietta.

The bylaws state that the church will vote on his appointment after being introduced to the congregation. Our plan is for Dr. DeLoach to be presented on Wednesday, December 8, at prayer meeting, as he is currently serving as Interim Pastor at a church in the Atlanta area and cannot be at Highland Hills on a Sunday until later in January. A vote on his appointment will be scheduled for Sunday, December 12.

To watch two of Dr. DeLoach’s sermon videos, click here and here. We know you will be quite impressed as we were with every interaction with him! His sermons are meaningful and warm, and he has such a calming presence. His training and background will be just what our church needs moving forward as we begin to heal and prepare our hearts for our permanent pastor.

After vetting 16 candidates, and talking to many folks, we are excited that our committee is unanimous in our decision to recommend Greg to our church family.

Sincerely,

The Interim Pastor Search Committee:
Sara Spivey, Steve Brown, Jennifer Browne, John Jarrard, and Jim Netherton
