Beloved of Highland Hills,

How do you experience God these days?

Summer is off to a great start in Middle Georgia, and I for one am excited. This is always a season of a different rhythm as people travel, or stay home and the kids are out of school. Everything always looks a little different.

As we start the summer, the church has been buzzing with our Missions and Outreach team hosted breakfast this week for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary staff. Laughter and smells of bacon filled the halls on Wednesday morning. We’ve seen supplies rolling in to support our Uganda Mission Trip Team and even preparations for back to school activities. Our summer camp for children, Wild Wonder, has reached capacity with 15 children registered and our volunteers and staff are hard at work preparing for the week. This Sunday at 5 p.m. is a training on how to better serve our neighbors at the church. These are busy days of serving and preparing to serve our community. This is good and holy work.

On the social front, this summer for us kicks off this weekend with a Macon Bacon Game. It's not too late to get one of the last remaining tickets for this fun kick off game. And not to forget, next Wednesday, June 4th we are having a picnic on the grounds with an old fashioned hymn sing.

There is much going on and much to be thankful for at Highland Hills this summer. My hope is that in the midst of these many events that you experience something of the nature of God. Maybe you will experience God by serving in our neighbors or across the world and seeing the face of Christ. Or maybe it will be in the laughter of our kids as they paint in the mud. Or maybe you will experience God in the singing the familiar songs of our faith around the table together. Or perhaps, you will experience the nurturing and restorative nature of God in some deep rest wherever you find yourself.

Wherever that may be this summer, my prayer for all of Highland Hills is that in some way everyone finds themselves encountering a new side of God. That you are surprised, encouraged, and surrounded by the love of Christ each and every day. For this summer, I say thanks be to God!
