Worship in the Great Room

Worship in the Great Room this July has been a grand experiment of finding new ways to encounter God. It has been a truly fun way to worship this summer with big changes like different types of hymns and new ways to encounter one another.

A favorite for me has been how we have had to sit near one another--I love how people who have worshiped together for quite some time are getting to know each other because there are fewer spaces to spread out. I've also loved how hearty the singing has been--you all have lovely voices! In getting to preach in this smaller space, sermons have felt more relational. The sermon takes on almost a conversational tone when I can see your faces smile or grimace (or even groan) in real time.
In this season of Remissioning the church, we are trying to answer the question of who God is calling us as a church to be. In large part, we can't answer that unless we see how God is working around us. As you think about the last few weeks of worship, have you noticed the Spirit of God anew? Has any part of worship nourished your soul as you go throughout your week? I know for me, I have caught myself singing the benediction to Blaise on fussy nights or as I walk the dog in the neighborhood.
As we prepare to kick off our school year and return to the sanctuary, we want to carry some of the lifegiving aspects of this fun experiment into our regular worship. Just like trying on new clothes at your favorite store, this has been a way for us to try a few things on and see if they fit our body. We want to hear how you have experienced God anew the last few weeks. Please share your feedback using the form below so we can mindfully and prayerfully bring this into how we worship God on a regular basis.
(This survey will also be available in your bulletins on Sunday if you would prefer a paper copy.)
